2023 Lamborghini Huracán Tecnica Preview

Lamborghini Huracáns are replaced after eight years. Lamborghini transferred track-day Huracán STO lessons to the street-oriented 2023 Huracán Tecnica. The aerodynamic super sports car adds 6.4 millimeters.

The new Huracán Tecnica is a track-capable daily driver. The STO had a stiff but comfortable ride and minimal interior noise at speed, depending on driving mode. The Tecnica is faster than the rear-wheel-drive Huracán Evo but less precise than the STO.

The same STO-tuned 5.2-liter V-10 engine sends 630 horsepower and 417 lb-ft to the rear wheels through a large back glass window in the new carbon-fiber engine cover panel. 7-speed twin-clutch automatic transmission stays.

The new Tecnica's 2.15 kg/CV weight-to-power ratio trumps the STO's 2.09. If you drive often, the new Tecnica's "finished" style and weight may be worth it. STO owners use it daily; EVO owners race it. Let's compare.

The Huracán Tecnica's front fascia features Lamborghini's Terzo Millennio "Ypsilon" design. The revised fascia angles produce an air curtain that draws air via lower intakes beneath the Huracán's Ypsilon-designed headlamps.

The Huracán EVO RWD's rear wing generates 35% more downforce than the STO's spoiler and is less visible. Aerodynamics improve brake cooling and pad life. New underbody deflectors cut drag 20% over EVO RWD.

The Terzo Millennio uses Lamborghini show car pieces. The Vision GT concept vehicle inspired the 20-inch diamond-cut wheels, while the limited-edition Lamborghini Essenza SCV12 supercar previewed the unique rear aperture glass cutline.

The revised glasswork slices deeper into the body, widening the rear fenders and intakes without increasing the car. Huracán Tecnica's longer back wing is intentional.

The revised carbon-fiber engine cover has a wide engine bay glass window below a "flatter" rear cabin window to increase driver sight. Hexagonal exhaust pipes, rear air inlets, and deflectors match.

The strong sports car's rear-wheel steering system aids each drive mode. Strada mode reduces turning circle for city driving, Sport mode boosts agility, and Corsa mode sharpens steering. Tecnica suspension, torque-vectoring, and traction control are unique.

Harness seat belts and a simplified HMI digital interface for the Tecnica version enable integrated telemetry and track timings to customize the cabin for daily drive or track use. STOs have 3.5 cubic feet less freight.

The Huracán Tecnica has a 3.2-second 0–62 mph acceleration and 202-mph top speed, compared to the STO's 2.8 seconds. RWD automobiles.
